- Goat polyclonal antibody to mGold. mGold is a monomeric yellow fluorescent protein engineered from GFP-like fluorescent proteins derived from the jellyfish Aequorea victoria. mGold is a basic (constitutively fluorescent) yellow fluorescent protein designed as a bright and photostable reporter suitable for fusion tagging, live-cell imaging, and multicolor applications. It has improved maturation and brightness compared to earlier variants, with a maximum excitation at 515 nm and a maximum emission at 531 nm. mGold-tagged proteins can be detected in Western blot at approximately 26–27 kDa plus the molecular weight of the fused protein. In immunofluorescence, antibody staining can enhance detection, particularly in fixed samples or low-expression systems. These antibodies are widely used in studies of protein localization, trafficking, and multiplex imaging in mammalian and other model systems.
